“The House of Drift” well that’s what they call the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, and this is where the final round of the Formula Drift season took place this last weekend. The event definitely lived up to its name and made an amazing finale. fd7xivwmThe top 32 elimination round kicked off with some surprising results. The first driver to be eliminated was Rhys Millen in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, who was beaten by Tyler McQuarrie in the Falken 350z. Tyler would finish up the night in 2nd place being outdone by Ryan Tuerck. Tanner Foust with the Rockstar Energy Drink Scion Tc took 3rd.fd7xviiiwm
Although Ryan Tuerck took first place at this event the true victor was Chris Forsberg. After qualifying for the top 32 Forsberg only needed to eliminate one opponent to earn enough points to win the 2009 Formula Drift season. Chris accomplished this very early on after knocking out Doug VanDerBrink. When the judges made their announcement Chris was met at the starting grid by teammates and friends and hoisted in to the air.
At the victory ceremony that evening Chris not only took first place for the season, but became the first for a couple of other things. He also won the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus, and was announced as the first non-traditional race car driver to win the Formula Drift Championship.

Monroe, WA – Formula Drift Round 5 “The Breaking Point” brought thousands of spectators. The Pro’s danced flawlessly across Evergreen Speedway’s 5/8ths “big boy’s” bank. During Formula Drift weekend, our locals stuck it out during ProAm. Many media folk raised their camera’s when they saw the amateur drivers hyping up Evergreen’s grand stands. Thousands cheered our locals on, and two videographers were their to capture the moment.

Last Sunday, we had a photographer come out from Idaho. His name is Matt Galantuomini, also known as Kanokus Photography. Galantuomini grained his experience as a professional photographer shooting for drivers like Dave Mirra, Ken Block and Tanner Foust. A hobbiest turn professional, Galantuomini has clientele that books private photoshoots.

You will see more of his work come July and August, as we provide him the opportunity to shoot at Formula Drift. Keep an eye out on his Deviant Art and online portfolio!
